Our ballpark is $2,100–$2,800 + GST. Here's what pushes a project toward the high or low end.
Deeper excavation, rocky or clay-heavy soil, or limited machine access all increase excavation time and cost. A standard Calgary home with straightforward access and soil is at the lower end. Awkward access points or unusually deep foundations move toward the higher end.
Poured concrete is the most common in Calgary and cuts efficiently. Concrete block foundations require more care during cutting to avoid structural concerns. Old rubble or stone foundations are assessed case by case.
A window in an open side yard with easy machine access is straightforward. A window under a deck, in a tight alley, or near utilities requires more work and may affect the price.
Multi-window projects share mobilization costs. If you need two or three egress windows, get them quoted together — it's typically more cost-effective per window than scheduling them separately.

A building permit is required for all new egress window installations in Calgary. Fees start at approximately $333.84. If your window well projects into a side setback, a development permit may also be required. Full permit guide →

There are legitimate ways to bring your project cost down. Here are two worth knowing about.
If you want to handle the exterior excavation yourself before we arrive, we can factor a discount into your quote. The hole needs to meet specific dimensions — depth, width, setback from the foundation — and roughly one-third of excavated soil can remain on site for backfill (the rest needs to be disposed of separately).
Not for everyone, but a real option if you have the equipment or time. We'll walk you through the requirements so the hole is ready when we arrive.
If you're upgrading to triple pane glass as part of a broader energy-efficiency project, your window installation may qualify for the Canada Greener Homes Grant. Triple pane is required for grant eligibility — our standard double pane LOW-E Argon windows do not qualify.
Ask us about the triple pane upgrade when you request your quote. Eligibility and grant amounts depend on your project scope — check the federal program details directly for current funding levels.
You can also supply and install your own window well and receive a discount off the base package price. Ask about the DIY well option when you request your quote.

Yes. Permit obtaining is an optional add-on service. The City of Calgary's building permit fee (approximately $333.84) is a separate cost from our service fee for handling the application. We handle the paperwork — you pay the City fee directly or we include it in your package. Confirm this when you request your quote.
